Anyone who dares to raise their voice against him is crushed by his employee, Shankar (Dharmendra), and his sons, Guman (Gulshan Grover) and Karan (Akshay Kumar). When Daata Guru learns that Shankar has abducted his widowed daughter-in-law, Lakhsmi (Jaya Pradha), and has married her, he is enraged and wants Shankar dead. Trivia:
The film marks Manoj Kumar's final appearance as an actor.

K.C. Bokadia lied to actress Vaishnavi when she signed the film, telling her that she would be paired opposite a hero. When her role turned out to be a character actor's role, she got extremely angry and lashed out in several interviews.

Karishma Kapoor plays Dharmendra's sister in the film despite being as young as his daughter in real life.
